Handam qalams are made from reed found primarily in Indonesia. It is known for its characteristic earthy brown colour but also for its light weight and hardness making it ideal for Arabic calligraphy pens. Handam pens are strong and sturdy producing sharp lines without a frequent need to re-cut the nib.
This set contains 7 pens in sizes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 mm.
Please note this set has been crafted from hollow and unfilled, lighter version of the reed.
To increase the time between cuts, use water-based inks and always clean the nib after use.
Some left-handed Arabic calligraphers need to use qalams cut for right hand. If you are left-handed but are unsure if left hand cut pen is suitable for you, please get in touch with us.
