This US made Sheaffer Calligraphy Maxi Kit for Arabic calligraphy features plastic barrels with rubberised grip and 3 interchangeable steel nib units.
The full set contains:
- 3 pen bodies with push lid in pink, teal, and lime colour and with black rubber finger grips and chrome fittings
- 3 exchangeable nib units in different sizes (1.5, 2, and 2.5mm)
- 20 ink cartridges with ink of several colours
- Small sheet of very fine sanding paper
Set will be sent in its original packaging but as the box had to be opened to alter the nib, you might notice some signs of manual handling on the box.
Nibs of these pens have been ground to make them suitable for right-handed Arabic calligraphers and to ensure really crisp and sharp lines compromising slightly on the smoothness of the glide. The glide can be improved by using low porosity paper and by polishing and fine-tuning the nib using fine sanding paper (included with the order).
We do not recommend these pens if you are rather heavy handed as you will find them scratching the paper.
You may find traces of ink on the pen nib and/or cartridge already fitted as each nib was tested during grinding process.
