Mustafa Izzet Efendi (1801- 1876) is credited with major refinement of both thuluth and naskh scripts before Sevki Effendi perfected them.
After brief introduction in Turkish the book follows the usual format of mashq books and presents the individual letters, letter combinations, words and phrases as prepared by Izzet Efendi for his students to copy.
Outer lines on each page present thuluth, inner lines naskh script.
Size: 22 x 31.5 cm (slightly larger than A4)
Word ‘mashq’ in this context refers to set of exercises prepared by master calligrapher for his students as models for practice. (Mansour, 2020)
