Mehmed Shevki Efendi (1829 – 1887), often known simply as Shevki Efendi was one of the most influential classical Ottoman calligraphers. His naskh (and thuluth) work is considered the gold standard for the two scripts.
After brief introduction in Turkish, the book follows the usual format of mashq books and presents the individual letters, letter combinations, words and phrases as prepared by Shevki for his students to copy. Outer lines on each page present thuluth, inner lines naskh script.
